MV Agusta tears the covers off its updated Brutale 800 RR
To further refine the flagship Brutale, and to comply with Euro4 emission regulations, MV Agusta has overhauled the 800 RR for 2017.
The new naked MV benefits from less vibration and lower emissions, with a noise reduction of 50 per cent compared to its predecessor; all while receiving a boost in power.
The three-cylinder, 12-valve DOHC now makes 103kW at 13,000rpm and 86Nm at 10,100rpm. By modifying the cylinder head for noise suppression, MV says they have achieved the sound they want, while staying within the EURO4 regulations.
All-new components including a harmonic dampener, mechanical cam-chain tensioner, camshafts and valve guides have been added to miminze stresses and vibration.
To aid in reliability, a new countershaft, starter motor, primary gear drive and redesigned transmission gears have been developed for 2017.
In order to save weight, the new Brutale 800 RR boasts a new light alloy subframe and new forged wheels with a specific contrasting surface treatment.
The upgrades continue in the electrics department. The throttle unit now features an up & down Quick Shift and a hydraulic clutch with an integrated slipper system as standard.
The engine management system includes an updated Full Ride by Wire system which incorporates multi-map with eight-level adjustable traction control.
A new steering damper with eight levels of manual adjustment has been added along with hydraulic Marzocchi upside down forks and an adjustable Sachs rear monoshock.
Braking is handled by a pair of Brembo four-piston calipers with 320mm discs at the front, and Brembo twin-piston calipers with 220mm discs at the rear.
The new Brutale RR 800 is available in two colors: Ice / Carbon Black Metallic and Red Shock Pearl / Carbon Black Metallic.
