Ducati is going gangbusters as it heads towards its 90th birthday, announcing that April was the best month for sales it has ever had.
The Italian company sold 7309 motorcycles worldwide in April, more than in any other month in its 89-year history.
It is also on a record-setting year in 2015, having shipped about 18,000 bikes so far.
The rise in sales is impressive in a number of European countries, but none quite as good as in Italy, where Ducati reported an increase of 69% compared with April 2014.
A statement by Ducati Motor Holding attributes much of the success to the new Scrambler, which has become the best-selling bike in Italy.
The Scrambler is just about to land in the USA, Ducati’s biggest market, so the company’s success is likely to keep climbing in the near future.
The new DVT-equipped Multistrada and 1299 Panigale are also helping boost sales now that they are on the market.
