The International GS Trophy is the ultimate adventure challenge for GS motorcycle riders from all over the world. The competition first started in 2008 in Tunisia, and has continued over the years with events in South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Patagonia, Canada and Thailand.
For the first time in GS Trophy history, BMW Motorrad Australia is sending a national team to represent Australia at the 2018 International GS Trophy.
The GS Trophy is not a race; it is an endurance challenge that tests GS riders on their team spirit, fitness, tenacity and – last but not least – their riding capability.
In 2018, the International GS Trophy heads to the mountainous landscapes and gravel tracks of Central Asia – Mongolia. The epic scenery and challenging terrain make Mongolia the perfect location to test the skills and technical abilities of the world’s best adventure motorcyclists.
To select the team, a National Qualifier Event will be held in Lima East, Victoria over the weekend of 28th-29th October, 2017.
The Top three riders who participate in the qualifier will be selected to compete in Mongolia in 2018.
The Top two female riders (if they place outside Top 3) will receive the opportunity to compete in the International GS Trophy Female Team, and will be sent to South Africa for the Female Qualifier event.
The qualifier will test the riders’ aptitude, technical skillset and team work.
Challenges include:
– Technical Test
– Navigation Test
– Physical Fitness Test
– Parallel Log riding
– Hill Climbs
– Descents
– Water Crossing
– Braking Downhill
– Sand Passage
