THE RADICAL BRADICAL

MACNA BRADICAL JACKET

BY NIGEL PATERSON

Macna has broken a few rules with its new Bradical jacket, an obvious play on words for this radical new piece of clothing.

For a start it’ll be compared with anorak (pull-over)-style jackets, even though these hardly exist in the world of motorcycling. This will be for a bunch of reasons, including the difficulty in pulling a garment over your head to get it on.

The Bradical instead features a full zip on the left side, which is covered by a weather flat, giving the appearance of an anorak with the convenience of a conventional jacket. Anoraks are often rainwear, used in the rain, whereas the Bradical is a warmer weather jacket, although it does come with a Raintex ML liner, which is a great combination in warmer weather. The lining will keep you dry and block the wind when needed, but there’s lots of mesh panels for major breathability in hot weather.

The offset zip also allows for huge pockets — there’s a kangaroo pouch at the front, a single full-width pocket under that and a big rear pocket too — big enough to take the liner when rolled up. The style is ultra-modern with a camo pattern in both of the two colour schemes.

Finishing it off is a detachable hood with a retention clip so it doesn’t flap about when you’re riding, standard elbow and shoulder guards, plus a pouch for the optional back protector

We’ve found the Bradical to be a solid performer over the summer, providing a good balance between comfort, strength and breathability, while the liner is super-comfortable against the skin because it’s mesh bonded to the Raintex ML lining, not sweaty poly.

The Bradical is available from all good bike shops in a huge range of sizes, priced at $499.
