Arai’s range-topping race helmet, the RX-7V, is now available in Australia. Here’s some of the things that make it so special.
The shell
While the RX-7V may look similiar to its predecessor, the shell has been heavily revised. Arai insists that a smooth rounded shell provides the best protection, so the RX-7V employs minimalist styling. The lid is 30g lighter than before, and has a repositioned visor pivot to allow 3mm of extra room for the rider’s mouth and chin.
Formula One visor lock
The new open/lock mechanism has been adopted from Arai’s F1 helmets, making it stronger and easier to operate while wearing gloves.
Adjustable interior
By using different thicknesses of foam within the helmet, riders can tailor the fit to suit their head shape. The lining is made from Eco-Pure, which is anti-bacterial and features integrated air channels.
Diffuser
On top of the lid you’ll see a plastic spoiler, this is there to extract hot air from inside the helmet. It is now longer than before, to increase airflow and improve high-speed aerodynamics.
Pricing for the Arai RX-7V starts at $1099.95 RRP for White, Matt Black and Gloss Black colour ways, and $1299.95 for the special race graphics including the new Maverick Vinales colour scheme.
